Tefillin & Mezuzah

Mezuzah

A mezuzah mounted on the right side of the doorpost designates the home as Jewish, reminding us of G-d and our heritage. It is also a symbol of G-d’s watchful care over the home. The placing of a mezuzah on the doors of a home or office protects the inhabitants — whether they are inside or outside.

The Jewish security system.

“וּכְתַבְתָּ֛ם עַל־מְזֻז֥וֹת בֵּיתֶ֖ךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ”

“And you shall inscribe them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates.” (Deut. 6:8)

Tefillin

Tefillin are black leather boxes containing parchment scrolls to be worn.

From Sinai to Jerusalem, Babylon to Masada, Auschwitz to Manhattan, through fire, sword, forced labor and affluence—we carry tefillin to this day, guarding the chain of transmission with our very lives.

Tefillin is an incredibly powerful mitzvah. The experience of putting on tefillin has changed many people’s lives.

Combining mind, heart and deed.

“וּקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאוֹת עַל־יָדֶךָ וְהָיוּ לְטֹֽטָפת בֵּין עֵינֶֽיךָ”

“And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and let them serve as a symbol between your eyes.”
