Rabbi Yossy Goldman was sent on Shlichus to Johannesburg in 1976 to become the Director of South Africa’s first Chabad House. In 1986, he was invited to become the Senior Rabbi of the Sydenham Shul of Johannesburg, and with the Rebbe’s guidance he accepted the position. He became the Shul’s longest-serving Rabbi since it was established in 1943. He is today Life Rabbi Emeritus of this iconic Congregation and President of the South African Rabbinical Association.
